This natural “living” museum is just three miles south of Bend along Highway 97 and presents the region’s natural and cultural history with live animals, including an astounding Birds of Prey exhibit, as well as dioramas and breathtaking western exhibits and Native American art. It's a fun fascinating and educational experience for the entire family. Highlights of the live animal exhibits include the astounding Birds of Prey - Raptors of the Desert Sky, featuring hawks, falcons, owls and eagles; The Wild Big Cats - Ochoco, a male bobcat and Snowshoe, a male lynx; and The Desertarium featuring collared lizards, a rubber boa snake, scorpions and the endangered desert tortoise. You'll also learn about the region's pioneer and Native American history with walk-through-time dioramas and art. New this summer, live characters portray the Miller Family, 1904 homesteaders operating a used sawmill on a re-created ranch where you can interact with the family as they work the mill!
